Senior Friendship League
Following hot on the heels of the recent success of our Junior Fleming Watson team’s league win our Senior team have won the Friendship League on the final day of their campaign by a solitary point. Led by our Greens Convener Stephen Richardson the team have been very competitive over the past few seasons so it’s great to finally see them secure a victory. Special mention to Willie Elliott and Clark Hill. Willie played most of the matches and formed a formidable partnership with Clark as they had 4 straight wins from week 6 of the campaign. The squad are listed below:
- Stephen Richardson
- Clark Hill
- Willie Elliot
- Joe Phillips
- Tommy D’Alessandro
- John Duncan

Renfrewshire Club Team Championship
Fereneze made it a 3rd win in 8 years, and a 2nd in 3 years in this competition having never previously won it prior to 2017. The previous 2 wins were tight affairs, winning by 1 shot or on the countback (coincidentally we lost on the countback last year) but this years was an exception and whilst he’d be the first to say it’s a team game the 10 shot victory is largely down to Callum Macaulay who shot an incredible 63 and set a new course record at Caldwell in doing so.
To put the score into context, the next best score was 71 and no one at Caldwell has broke 70 in a competition this year. Richie Elrick (77) and Davie Miller (73) managed to offset that 8 under for the team to finish on a level par total. Callum’s just joined us this year joining wife Clare Marie and their 2 boys, Evan and Lucas. From what he tells me he’s really settled into being a member with us, specifically how friendly and welcoming everyone is, it’s just the course he’s yet to work out, I’m sure that won’t be too long.
